The LEGO Ideas Second 2019 Review Stage Now Includes Thunderbirds Are Go and Gravity Falls Mystery Shack
In an almost back-to-back triumph, two additional LEGO Ideas projects have now gathered the necessary votes to qualify for the Second 2019 Review Stage. Following the success of the UCS Space Shuttle Atlantis , this original build is now joined by the LEGO Ideas project Thunderbirds Are Go by AndrewClark2, and Figura’s Gravity Falls Mystery Shack .
Thunderbirds Are Go is another LEGO Ideas project from the creative mind of two-time LEGO Ideas winner Andrew Clark. This is the third time that Andrew’s MOC has achieved the coveted 10K support, with his first two projects eventually becoming official LEGO Ideas sets: Doctor Who (21304) and The Flintstones (21316) .
The LEGO Ideas project Thunderbirds Are Go is based on the popular British animated series launched in 2015. It takes its cue from the classic Supermarination animated series from the 1960s, giving it a modern twist to appeal to the current generation of sci-fi kid fans. This set features the Thunderbird 2 with its foldable legs, wings, and landing gear plus two smaller vehicles: the Thunderbird 4 and The Mole. It also features the microfigures of the show’s main characters: John, Alan, Scott, Virgil, and Gordon Tracy. Andrew’s choice of using microfigures somehow gives a sense of scale to the entire build.
The next qualifier for the Second 2019 Review Stage is something that is inspired by the Disney XD series, Gravity Falls . It features the show’s main crib, or should I say more of a tourist trap, The Mystery Shack . Here’s a brief description of what we can expect from this brick rendition by LEGO builder Figura.
Come visit Gravity Falls and join Dipper and Mabel in discovering all the mysteries their Grunkle Stan might be hiding from them inside the Mystery Shack.
The ground floor features the museum, the gift shop including a curious vending machine and the living space
The first floor holds a secret room including some furniture and a dubious carpet
The top floor has Dipper’s and Mabel’s shared bedroom as well as various items of mystery – imparticular a book with the number 3 written on it
The outside areas show three different porches (the one by the rear entrance including Stan’s couch), the parking lot and the bottomless pit, which apparently is bottomless
Parked outside is the little golf cart, which helps Dipper and Mabel escape the monstrous dangers of the surrounding forests
Contains 5 minifigures: Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Soos, and Wendy as well as Waddles
To reach all areas of the shack the floors can easily be separated or – for even quicker access – you can fold open the roof. The roof above the gift shop can also easily be lifted. Many of the details and furniture can easily be removed and rearranged to allow different settings.
These 10K-qualifiers now join the ranks of the UCS Space Shuttle Atlantis to be included to the LEGO Ideas Second 2019 Review Stage. Hot on their heels is another original creation by one of my favorite builders: JKBrickworks’s The Pursuit of Flight . If it will make the cut, then this might be Jason Allemann’s third potential LEGO Ideas set following the success of 2016’s LEGO Ideas Maze (21305) and the more recent LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) .
